Alex Chernov scholarship is available to Indian international students and covers the entire cost of tuition for a one-year, full-time, master 's-level course in any of the many specialty legal fields offered by Melbourne Law School's Melbourne Law Masters program. In addition, two equal payments of $10,000 (a total of $20,000) are provided. Additionally, a recipient could be able to pursue funded research projects worth up to $10,000 overall. The Honorable Alex Chernov, a former governor of Victoria and judge of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria will also mentor the recipients.
Eligibility for Alex Chernov Scholarships at the University of Melbourne:
- The applicant must be an Indian student enrolled in a Masters-level course at Melbourne Law School.
- The applicant must have applied to and been accepted into one of the master's programs of Melbourne Law School
- Applications for selected courses must be sent by October 31 of the year before if starting in March during the start-year intake.
- Applications for the selected course must be sent by April 30 of the same year if starting in July during the mid-year intake.
Selection Criteria:
Academic merit and other information included in a completed scholarship application will be taken into consideration for selection.
Value/Benefits of the Scholarship:
- Full fee remission for a one-year full-time Masters-level course at Melbourne Law School, (paid after the census date of the first subject in the semester of enrolment); and
- Two equal payments of $10,000 (totaling $20,000); and
- May have the opportunity to undertake paid research work up to $10,000 in total; and
- Mentoring by former Judge of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria and Governor of Victoria, the Honourable Alex Chernov.
