    Artists, performers, authors, or researchers in the fields of music, architecture, creative writing, literature, visual, performing, and literary arts, language, history, philosophy, and anthropology are eligible to apply for Macgeorge Fellowships.  To be eligible, they must be recommended by a suitable University of Melbourne school or department. If the nomination is accepted, the school or department must grant the nominee an honorary appointment as a visitor to the university.

    Eligibility for Macgeorge Fellowships at the University of Melbourne:

    The applicant must deliver a public lecture or performance, a departmental or school seminar, or a postgraduate workshop at the university while receiving the fellowship in addition to their honorary appointment as a visitor.

    Value/Benefits of the Scholarship:

    • One-time payments to the host department/school up to $14,000.
    • Selected fellows will spend four to six weeks at the university and remain in Macgeorge House for an unbroken term of study, writing, or creative endeavour. They will have complete access to the house and the expansive gardens along the river.
    • Applicants who are unable to find housing at Macgeorge House may be eligible for a Fellowship with alternate accommodations through the Macgeorge Bequest Committee of Management.
