The Daiwa Scholarship is a distinctive program that spans 19 months and encompasses language learning, work experience, and living with a host family in Japan. Before heading to Japan, there is also a one-month Japanese language course in the UK. This opportunity is specifically designed for exceptional UK citizens with strong leadership potential, aiming to equip them with Japanese language proficiency and connect them with expertise and knowledge relevant to their career aspirations. The primary objective of the Daiwa Scholarships is to foster mutual understanding between the two countries.

The Foundation generously covers various expenses for the Scholars, including travel to Japan, and accommodation in Tokyo. At the same time, they search for a place to live, all tuition and examination fees, and a monthly living allowance of Yen 260,000 (with around Yen 80,000 dedicated to rent). Private medical insurance is also provided, and the Scholars receive support from the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation's Liaison Office in Tokyo.

Over the years, the Daiwa Scholarship program has benefited 190 individuals from diverse fields such as science, art, academia, law, and architecture.

Eligibility Criteria for Daiwa Scholarship:

• Applicants must hold British citizenship.
• Candidates should be graduates or expected to graduate before their departure.
• They must possess a robust degree in any field or demonstrate a remarkable track record of accomplishments in their respective domain.
• A crucial requirement is having well-defined career objectives and a strong dedication to promoting connections between the UK and Japan.

Note: Individuals with a degree in Japanese language studies are not eligible for the Daiwa Scholarships but can explore other opportunities like the Daiwa Scholarships in Japanese Studies or the Foundation's grant schemes.
