The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars is providing fellowships to undergraduate students who wish to launch their careers in the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and are in financial need.

Eligibility Criteria for the Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship:

  • The applicant must be a U.S. national.
  • The applicant must enroll in a full-time IT-related bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a U.S.-based accredited institution.
  • The applicant must graduate with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in spring 2027.
    • Applicants enrolled in an accelerated bachelor’s/master’s degree program must email FAITFellowship@twc.edu to check their eligibility.
  • The applicant must hold a CGPA of 3.2 or higher.

Application Process:

All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the fellowship. The application should include the following components:

  • Proof Of U.S. citizenship
  • Transcript
  • A Personal Statement
  • Resume
  • Most recent financial aid award letter
  • Most recent FAFSA submission summary
  • Statement of financial need
  • One letter of recommendation.

Value of the Fellowship:

The successful candidates can avail of the following benefits:

  • Up to $43,500 annually in academic funding for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees, and some travel expenses;
  • Stipends, housing, and travel allowances for the two summer internships:
    • A domestic internship in Washington, D.C., at the U.S. Department of State and an overseas internship at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.
  • Personalized mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the program.
