Mrs. Helen Hopkins founded this prize in 1975 in memory of her late husband, George Hopkins, a longtime tutor for woodwind instruments at the School of Music.
Eligibility Criteria for the University of Auckland George Hopkins Prize:
- Students must be full-time Woodwind students enrolled in a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music conjoint degree, Bachelor of Music (Honours), Graduate Diploma in Music, or Postgraduate Diploma in Music.
- Students must have achieved the highest mark in MUS 121, 221, 321, 620A&B, or 721.
Selection process:
- Nomination is made to the Scholarships Office.
- The Prize will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Music.
Application Process:
Students do not need to apply for this scholarship, award, or prize or complete an online application form. It is awarded on the recommendation of the relevant faculty or University of Auckland committee.
Value of the prize:
The value of the Prize will be $500.
