Outstanding Thesis Award at College of Graduate Studies 2025

Eligibility

• The Outstanding Thesis Award is open to graduate students whose theses were published in May, August, or December of 2024, or are provisionally approved for publication by Montezuma Publishing in May 2025.
• Each college may nominate one outstanding thesis, and the award is available to students who have received or will receive their degree in May, August, or December of 2024, or May 2025.
• Students who were previously nominated for the award but not selected are ineligible for re-nomination.

Scholarship Value and Benefits

• The award consists of a $1,000 scholarship.
• The recipient will also be honored at the University's commencement ceremony in May, where they will sit with the platform party.
• This recognition provides public acknowledgment of the student's academic achievement.

Application Process

• Nomination Process: Students must be nominated by their college. Each college has its own method and internal deadline for reviewing theses for submission.
• Students should contact their committee chair early to ensure timely submission to their college for consideration.
• Submission to College of Graduate Studies: Nominations must be submitted to graduate-studies@sjsu.edu by March 10, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.
