Sherman Teacher Scholars Program

Eligibility:

• The Sherman Teacher Scholars Program is open to all students interested in urban education.
• It admits incoming first-year, transfer, upper-class, and graduate students pursuing a teaching certificate in early childhood, elementary, or secondary education, with a focus on STEM integration.

Application Process:

• Applicants must submit their application by January 15 for first-year priority, April 15 for fall transfer students, or November 15 for spring transfer students.
• It is recommended to apply by the Early Action or Priority deadline for UMBC admission.

Value/Benefit:

• The program provides four-year scholarship awards of $5,000 - $15,000 per year for in-state students and $10,000 - $22,000 per year for out-of-state students.
• The scholarship often covers a significant portion of the cost of attendance.
• Scholars also gain mentorship, hands-on experience in urban schools, and focus on integrating STEM subjects into education.
