A £1,000 non-repayable financial reward for students who have previously been in foster care, a shelter, or who are young adult caretakers, young refugees, or those who have been alienated from their biological parents for some time that exceeds 12 months. Please be aware that students who decide to live in housing owned by the university will also get a £500 bonus that will be applied to their rent.
Eligibility for Young Independent Student Bursary:
- Applicants must be new and continuing home undergraduate students.
- Applicants must have lived in foster care in the past or who are alienated from their parents are among the people in the foyer.
- Applicants must be fee-assessed as a full-time home student receiving a Student Finance Maintenance loan.
- Applicants must be under 25 at the beginning of the term, and paying fees of £9,250 annually.
Application Process:
Students must submit an application form to the university to be eligible for the scholarship.
Value of the Bursary:
The successful candidates are awarded a bursary of GBP 1,000.
