Research students with an exceptional record of academic achievement and promising research prospects are eligible for this fellowship, which was founded by a donation from Alfred Oscar Capell.
Eligibility for the A.O. Capell Scholarship:
- Applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Applicants should have applied for and fulfilled the University of Melbourne's graduate research degree admission criteria.
- Candidates should have not finished a research degree at the same or higher level as the program for which funding is applied.
- Students should not have already been awarded a graduate research scholarship with comparable advantages.
Benefits:
- Living expenses for up to two years for students pursuing a Master's by research degree or up to three years for students pursuing a Doctorate will be covered by a living allowance of $42,000 a year pro rata (2024 full-time study rate).
- Relocation grant of $2,000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3,000 for students moving from outside Australia.
Application process:
An application is not necessary. This award will automatically be given to the student if they apply for admission to a graduate research degree by 31 October for commencement in the following year.
