Eligibility for Caird Research Fellowships with Royal Museums Greenwich:

Applications from anybody with appropriate professional or academic expertise who can show a dedication to and aptitude for independent study are encouraged by Royal Museums Greenwich. Applicants from various backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply, according to Royal Museums Greenwich. 

Research Areas:

• Caribbean, African, and Atlantic histories and material cultures 
• Global histories and material cultures 
• The migration of people, objects, goods, and ideas 
• British identities in imperial, post-colonial, and global contexts 
• Underrepresented histories, including gender, sexuality, and disability 
• Art, architecture, and identity 
• New approaches to histories of shipping and shipping companies 
• The Royal Observatory Greenwich is a historic landmark and cultural icon.

Conditions for the Fellowship:

• Fellows must work with museum staff to engage diverse audiences through events, seminars, blog posts, vox pops, and talks.
• The Fellow is responsible for any tax liability, visa expenses, and required health or travel insurance.
• Fellows residing outside the UK must ensure they have the correct permissions to visit and conduct research.
• The museum must be acknowledged in all publications resulting from the fellowship.
• The Fellow must provide the Museum with copies of all publications supported by the Fellowship.
• Upon completion of the fellowship, the fellow must submit a written report to the museum's research department.

Value and Duration:

• Funding is typically for 3-6 months, with exceptions for longer durations (up to 12 months) on a part-time basis.
• The Fellowship award is £2,100 per month.
• Payments can be made to the fellow or their institution.
• Fellowships may start in the September following appointment or earlier by arrangement.
• The award covers research costs like accommodation, travel, and subsistence.
