CSC-VUB Scholarship Programme at Vrije Universiteit Brussel 2024

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) jointly offer doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships to Chinese researchers. These scholarships aim to facilitate academic collaboration between VUB and top Chinese universities in various disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant:

• For full PhD (3-4 years):

1. Must be a Chinese national and meet CSC eligibility requirements.
2. Must be aLast-year Master's student from a Chinese university (for a 4-year scholarship).
3. Must be a Last-year Master's student from a university outside of China (for 4-year scholarship).
4. Must be students who have already obtained a Master's degree (for a 4-year scholarship).
5. Must be a first-year PhD student currently enrolled in a university outside of China (for a 3-year scholarship).

• For jointly supervised PhD (6-24 months):

1. Must be a Chinese national and meet CSC eligibility requirements.
2. Current PhD students enrolled in a Chinese university.

Value of the Scholarship:

• Monthly allowance for the allocated period & international flight provided by CSC.
• Tuition fee waiver & health insurance provided by VUB (for full PhD or jointly supervised PhD students).

Application Process:

• Check eligibility and read information about doing a PhD at VUB.
• Find a PhD topic and contact a professor/promoter.
• Start the online pre-application.
• Deadline for VUB online pre-applications: 26th February 2024.
• VUB provides offer letters to pre-accepted candidates.
• Pre-accepted candidates apply for a CSC scholarship before the CSC deadline.
• CSC selection process for final candidates.
• Upon confirmation, VUB informs final candidates to start the VUB PhD application procedure.
• Enroll at VUB and participate in an info session for CSC students.

Deadlines:

Application period: November 2023 - February 2024 (for the academic year 2024-2025).

Deadline for VUB online pre-applications: 26th February 2024.
