You can apply to this scholarship here. The deadline for the sending your application is 20 Dec, 2024. This scholarship is provided by RMIT University, Melbourne City campus and the value of this scholarship is Partial Funding, up to AUD 34,000 . This scholarship is open for: Open for all nationals.
- Degree: PhD
- Provided by: RMIT University, Melbourne City campus
- Deadline: 20 Dec, 2024
- Scholarship value: Partial Funding, up to AUD 34,000
A fellowship co-funded by CSIRO and RMIT will focus on the difficulties in creating next-generation solid CO2 adsorbent technologies with reduced cost capture. This project aims to investigate the basic science of optimizing new solid materials for CO2 capture, with an emphasis on flue gas streams and the impact of additional elements like SOx and NOx on the sorbents. Through this effort, a basic understanding of how NOx and SOx interact with solid adsorbents will be developed.
Eligibility criteria:
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:
- Have a first-class Honors or 2A Honours or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline of engineering/science
- Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or international student meeting the minimum English language requirements
- Provide evidence of adequate oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team
- Meet RMIT’s entry requirements for the PhD by research degree.
Application process:
Interested students should contact Dr. Selvakannan Periasamy (selvakannan.periasamy@rmit.edu.au) and provide:
- Statement to outline your interest
- Electronic copy of your academic transcripts
- CV that includes any publications and the contact details of 2 referees
- For international applicants, evidence of English proficiency may be required.
Benefits:
- The successful students will have a unique opportunity to work closely with researchers from the Centre for Advanced Materials and Industrial Chemistry (CAMIC) of RMIT and Scientists from CSIRO in a multi-disciplinary team environment. The project will provide numerous research and development opportunities, including:
- Development and optimization of solid CO2 adsorbents to capture the CO2 from the flue gas streams
- Development of new approaches in carbon capture and storage.
- Scholarship provides a stipend of $34,000 per annum (full-time) for three years and six months, with a possible extension of six months, and successful applicant will also be awarded a Tuition Fee Scholarship if required.
