Dear Sir.Mr.Madam.Ms I am writing to request an application fee waiver to enable me to submit my application to the PH.D. Program at the School of ---------University of ----------------. Having successfully completed a 4-year bachelor’s program and Masters in Rift Valley University, Ethiopia, with first-class honors (i.e., Distinction equivalent), I have been motivated by the enormous impact of fake news in Ethiopia, with is also a global phenomenon, to pursue a PH.D. Music to be able to contribute to misinformation research. I am unable to pay the application fee of $1(112Ethiopian birr) given that I come from a low income earning family. My family’s annual income of (30,000 Ethiopian birr) (300) has been immensely impacted by the current economic crisis in my country, Ethiopia. In addition, the $ 100(11,200 Ethiopian birr) application fee is five times above the current national minimum wage in Ethiopia (2000Ethiopian birr) the proposed new minimum wage is yet to be implemented). Hence, only rich Ethiopian can afford to pay for this, However, I am encouraged by your university’s diversity, equity, and inclusion statement, which emphasizes equal opportunity for all-one of the reasons I am attracted to this institution.
