Te Huarau Scholarship is one of the TeachNZ scholarships aimed at candidates who wish to pursue a career in teaching. Each year, some 130 scholarships are offered to aspiring teachers in priority subjects and education settings.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicants must enroll in an approved graduate or undergraduate teaching course.
  • The applicants must classed as citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
  • The applicant must be enrolled, applied for, or be planning to enroll, in one of the approved initial teacher education courses listed on the Teaching Council’s program-finder tool.
  • Applicants who have previously received a TeachNZ scholarship are not eligible.

Application Process:

  • Interested candidates must apply online for the scholarship.

Value of the Scholarship:

  • The selected candidates are awarded the following benefits:
    • Course fees to study an approved teaching qualification.
    • An allowance of NZD 10,000 throughout the study (limited to 4 years).

    Yes, you can secure an education loan to study abroad at New Zealand Government. Education loans are of two types- Collateral and non collateral. Collateral includes either: Immovable property – a house or a flat or land (or) liquid security – an FD, or LIC or shares or bonds.
