Te Huarau Scholarship is one of the TeachNZ scholarships aimed at candidates who wish to pursue a career in teaching. Each year, some 130 scholarships are offered to aspiring teachers in priority subjects and education settings.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The applicants must enroll in an approved graduate or undergraduate teaching course.
- The applicants must classed as citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
- The applicant must be enrolled, applied for, or be planning to enroll, in one of the approved initial teacher education courses listed on the Teaching Council’s program-finder tool.
- Applicants who have previously received a TeachNZ scholarship are not eligible.

Value of the Scholarship:
- The selected candidates are awarded the following benefits:
- Course fees to study an approved teaching qualification.
- An allowance of NZD 10,000 throughout the study (limited to 4 years).
