Auckland University of Technology (AUT) offers postgraduate scholarships to promote postgraduate study and research and honor its students' academic excellence. AUT Students pursuing studies at Level 8 (Bachelor Honours Degree) or Level 9 (Master's Degree) of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) who have shown the ability to succeed highly may apply for a postgraduate research scholarship. Students planning to enroll in a program of study with a research component worth at least 30 points (or higher) for a bachelor's with honors degree or 45 points (or higher) for a master's degree are eligible for the scholarships.
Eligibility for AUT Post Graduate Research Scholarship:
- Applicants enrolling in the qualified program for the first time will receive preference.
- Applicants must plan to enroll in full-time studies and have finished their qualifying program at AUT or another New Zealand higher institution.
Documents Required:
- A one-page personal statement outlining the applicant’s academic goals, motivation interest in research study, and career aspirations stating why they believe they merit the scholarship.
- If the applicant applies for a Master of Philosophy or Masters’ by 120pts thesis, their approved PGR1. - If the applicant is applying under the category Māori or Pacific, they must outline in the statement their cultural involvement.
- Suppose an applicant wishes to be considered as under financial hardship. In that case, they must address this in their statement and upload evidence of their financial position, i.e., IRD statement of income, and provide a reference from a person other than a family member who can support the applicant’s financial need.
- Academic transcript(s) for any previous tertiary study completed at a New Zealand tertiary institution other than AUT.
- Once grades have been finalized, a copy of the applicant’s AUT transcript will be added to the application by the Scholarships Office.
