The Scottish Graduate School of Social Science (SGSSS) brings together the expertise of sixteen universities throughout Scotland (of which twelve are accredited to receive funding from the Economic and Social Research Council across 15 subject pathways) to enable top-notch PhD research. It is also the largest doctoral partnership in the UK, offering funding, training, and support for postgraduate research students in the social sciences. The University of Strathclyde is one example of this. The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) jointly support the USGS.
Eligibility for Economic and Social Research Council Doctoral Training Partnership (ESRC):
- A strong honors degree from an accredited university with a standing in the first or upper second classes, or above.
- UKRI support is available to both domestic and international students, and it will pay for the entire cost of tuition at home and the stipend. The University of Strathclyde will pay the overseas component of the tuition cost for successful candidates; the UKRI grant cannot pay this element.
