Dr. Glenn S. Dumke Fellowship
The Dr. Glenn S. Dumke Fellowship supports graduate students pursuing research in public policy, American history, economics, library science, archival management, or government, with a focus on California studies. It encourages scholars to engage in research projects using the special collections within the CSU system.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Standing:
- Must be in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Enrollment Status:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at a CSU campus in one of the following areas:
- public policy, American history, economics, library science, archival management, or government, and remain full-time during the academic year.
- Research Focus:
- Must use the award to conduct research projects within the Dumke Collection or other CSU special collections, including those at CSU Dominguez Hills, CSU Sacramento, or other CSU campuses.
- Research Area Preference:
- Preference is given to projects that focus on California's history, politics, economics, or government.
Award Value
Award Amount:
- One fellowship of $1,600 will be awarded for the academic year to support the recipient’s research.
Application Process

- Applicants must contact the financial aid department at their CSU campus to begin the application process.
Nomination and Submission:
- The campus financial aid office will submit selected applicants to the CSU Foundation.
Applicants must complete the following:
Personal Statement:
The statement should cover:
- The applicant’s interest in American history and/or California history, politics, economics, or similar California studies areas.
- Any prior work in the relevant areas and its connection to California.
- A clearly defined research plan and focus for the proposed project.
- Letter of Recommendation: If selected as a final nominee, the CSU Foundation will request a letter of recommendation from a CSU faculty member who can speak to the applicant’s academic qualifications and research potential.
