Eligibility Criteria for the WUE Distinguished Cougar Award:
- The application is open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents outside the state of Washington.
- The student must be charged non-resident tuition.
- The applicant must have a cumulative unweighted high school GPA between 3.7 and 4.0.
- The applicant must enroll at the Pullman campus as a first-time, first-year or transfer student.
- In Case of Transfer Students:
- Required transfer GPA: 3.7 – 4.0.
- If transferring with fewer than 26 credits: 3.7 – 4.0 G.P.A. plus 3.0 high school G.P.A.
- If the students have been enrolled previously at WSU, or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award.
Application Process:
Qualified students receive the award automatically, and are notified upon their offer of admission to WSU. No additional action or forms are required for consideration.
Value of the Scholarship:
The selected candidates are eligible for an award amount of $15,000 per year, which is renewable for 3 years.
The Distinguished Cougar Award is renewable for an additional three years or a maximum of eight total semesters if you meet the following conditions each year of the award:
- Maintain good academic standing with the university by the end of spring semester, or fall semester if you began in the spring;
- Enroll in 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus;
- Maintain non-resident status,
- Maintain undergraduate, non-professional degree status; and,
- Must continue enrollment on the Pullman or Spokane campus.
To be considered, apply by the first-year (March 31) or transfer (July 15) priority deadline.
