Pearsall Fellowship in Naval and Maritime History 2025

The Pearsall Fellowship in Naval and Maritime History is open to candidates interested in Naval and Maritime History at the Institute of Historical Research at the University.

Eligibility Criteria for the Pearsall Fellowship in Naval and Maritime History :

• Applicants may come from any nationality.
• Applicants can have their Ph.D. or equivalent awarded in any country.
• Applicants must have recently completed a doctoral degree in history, or have submitted their thesis for examination by 1 October in the academic year in which the Fellowship is to be held. 
• Applicants should undertake further historical research and writing.
• Applicants who previously held another postdoctoral research fellowship of 12 months or more are not eligible.
• The Fellowship cannot be held in conjunction with any other substantial maintenance grant.

Documents Required :

• A one-page CV; 
• A summary of the doctoral thesis (max 750 words);
• A postdoctoral research proposal with a timetable for completion (max. 1,000 words);
• A sample of the applicant’s written work, in English (max. 12,000 words, including notes); 
• Your name and page numbers must be included on all pages.
